Pokémon HOME version 4.1.0 is now live on Nintendo Switch and mobile, bringing connectivity with the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen. The update also increases storage for Premium subscribers and adds support for Pokémon caught in GO Safari Balls.
Maintenance ran longer than expected, but the service is now available to everyone. Here’s what’s changed.
FireRed and LeafGreen transfers are now available
You can now send Pokémon from your adventures in FireRed and LeafGreen to Pokémon HOME, with transfers handled one box at a time.
There’s one important catch: transfers are one-way. Once a Pokémon leaves FireRed or LeafGreen for HOME, it cannot return to its original game, so choose carefully before sending over members of your team.
Additional transfer rules include:
- Only one of each species of “Special Pokémon” can be transferred from a game.
- Your FireRed or LeafGreen Pokédex data syncs with HOME whenever you send a Pokémon over.
This connectivity applies to the Nintendo Switch releases of FireRed and LeafGreen.
Complete the Kanto Pokédex to receive Celebi
There’s also a reward for Kanto completionists: the Mythical Pokémon Celebi is now available as a Mystery Gift for completing the Kanto region Pokédex (GBA) in Pokémon HOME.

To claim it:
- Complete the Kanto region Pokédex (GBA) associated with the Nintendo Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen.
- Confirm your completion in the Games tab of Pokémon HOME.
- Receive Celebi through Mystery Gifts in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME on iOS or Android.
You’ll need a linked Nintendo Account, and the gift can only be received once per Nintendo Account. If you’ve already completed the required Pokédex, you’re still eligible.
You don’t need to transfer every Pokémon individually to complete this Pokédex. Once connected, HOME can register Pokémon using your FireRed or LeafGreen in-game Pokédex data.
Premium storage expands to 9,000 Pokémon
Pokémon HOME’s paid Premium Plan now holds 9,000 Pokémon, up from 6,000. That’s an extra 3,000 spaces, bringing the total to 300 boxes.
The increased capacity comes with no change to the Premium Plan’s price.
GO Safari Ball Pokémon can now enter HOME
Pokémon caught in GO Safari Balls in Pokémon GO can now be transferred to Pokémon HOME.
Their original ball won’t carry over, however: the GO Safari Ball changes into a Strange Ball when the Pokémon enters HOME.

The update adds a set of Kanto (GBA) Research Tasks for FireRed and LeafGreen. These cover familiar locations and groups of Pokémon, from the first partners to the Legendary birds and Mewtwo.
