Sean Wotherspoon Plush Collab Now Available at Pokémon Center

Pikachu, Charizard and Bulbasaur have received a vintage makeover in the Sean Wotherspoon × Pokémon Center plush collection. Pokémon confirmed the collection’s arrival in its September 18, 2026 announcement, showing off faded colours and mismatched patterns across the three familiar Pokémon.

At $59.99 each, these are a more expensive addition to your plush shelf. The designs have also prompted a debate among collectors, particularly over one detail: the vintage fabric textures are printed.

    Who is Sean Wotherspoon?

Wotherspoon is a Los Angeles-based designer, curator, collector and vintage enthusiast. If you follow sneakers, you may know him for his Nike Air Max 1/97 design. As TheGamer explains, this Pokémon collaboration applies his familiar vintage style to plush toys.

There is a personal connection here, too. In a message accompanying the collaboration, Wotherspoon talks about collecting Pokémon cards, watching the anime and playing on his Game Boy as a child. He now shares that interest with his own children.

Bulbasaur, Charizard and Pikachu get a new look

Pokémon’s announcement describes a collection inspired by well-worn clothing and vintage toys. Each plush has contrasting patterns and faded colours, creating the appearance of an older toy that has been patched up over time. Here is how the three designs differ, as detailed in TheGamer’s coverage:

    PlushDesign detailsUS price
BulbasaurA darker green body with a corduroy-style pattern, plus several contrasting patterns across its bulb.$59.99
CharizardColouring closer to its usual appearance, with patchwork-style patterns on the wings and contrasting sections across its body.$59.99
PikachuMismatched colours and patterned sections that make it look as though parts of the toy have been repaired.$59.99

TheGamer reported the $59.99 individual price on September 23, with no discounted bundle for the trio. Buying all three at that price comes to $179.97.

The vintage textures are printed onto new fabric

Pokémon’s original Japanese product announcement explicitly states that the collection uses new fabric with printed designs that recreate a vintage look. The plushes are not made from the old clothing that inspired them.

That detail matters if the apparent mix of fabrics caught your attention. Bulbasaur’s corduroy-style pattern, for example, is part of the printed effect. The design recreates the appearance of older textiles without using those vintage materials.

Why some collectors are questioning the price

In the r/pokeplush discussion, several collectors said they liked the idea but wanted actual contrasting textiles. The price was a recurring objection, with some saying the printed patterns made it harder to justify spending around $60. One commenter put it this way:

“If the fabric wasn’t printed on, maybe I’d understand the $60 price tag but it’s not.”

There were positive reactions as well. The original poster praised Bulbasaur’s retro appearance and liked Charizard, while ultimately deciding to pass at that price. Another commenter loved the style enough to want a homemade Cyndaquil in a similar design.

The reactions in that thread show that some collectors enjoy the designs while still having reservations about the materials. Others simply like the unusual look.

    Where to buy the collection

The collection is a limited edition release, with each plush sold separately through Pokémon Center. Check the individual product pages for current stock and pricing in your region.
